5 Questions for Stepmother
Colleen Lewis - A Step in the Right Direction
Colleen Lewis sweeps into the role of Cinderella’s Stepmother with the same wicked sparkle she brought to previous roles—only now she’s swapped broomsticks for couture and attitude. With a résumé full of scene‑stealing characters, she proves once again that nobody delivers glamorous villainy with quite as much style, smirk, and unstoppable charm.
1) What is your favourite role or favourite show/event that you have performed in the past!
- It’s a toss up between playing the Wicked Witch in the 2013 Capitol Theatre’s version of Wizard of OZ or Titania in Northumberland Player’s A Midsummer’s Nigh’s Dream.
2) What is your "dream" role for a show yet to come?
- Definitely Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Elphaba from Wicked but I’d LOVE to play a female version of The Phantom of the Opera.
3) How do you compare to the Step-Mother? What characteristics do you share and/or not share?
- I have always had a flair for the dramatic, and my family say that I can be a bit of a perfectionist. I like to think that I have higher emotional intelligence than the Stepmother, but I can’t lie, I definitely can appreciate a well made hat.
4) You obviously love performing, when did you realize that?
- My stage performances started when I was about age 5. The stage was my living room with the big-picture window looking out to the street. My costume was entirely made up of my mom’s nude-strappy high-heels and flannel jammies. The audience was our poodle, Cocoa, and I’d dance my heart out to Frank Mills’ Music Box Dancer, or Neil Diamond’s Forever in Blue Jeans! It was all downhill from there!
5) Who are your influences from the entertainment world...on stage, movies, music, tv?
- I adore Catherine O’Hara’s art. I sing along to Celine, Lee Aaron or Anne Wilson. Not to brag, but I have a shocking vocal resemblance, when driving in my car, no matter what the people in the other cars think…..or why they are pointing and laughing.
Colleen, as the Stepmother in VOS Theatre's Cinderella, the pointing and laughing is exactly what audiences will be doing and we are sure you will be enjoying every minute. We can't wait. Cinderella opens April 24th at Victoria Hall's historic Concert Hall. Tickets are available here: CINDERELLA TICKETS
