AUDITION NOTICE
For the first time in forever AUDITION Sign-Ups are now open for VOS Theatre’s production of the worldwide phenomenon, Disney’s Frozen.
With Show Dates November 19 to 28, 2026 at Cobourg’s historic Victoria Hall Concert Hall and rehearsals starting in August, all those signing up for auditions should prepare themselves for an avalanche of singing, dancing, and acting.
FROZEN is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
The Show:
Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, Disney’s Frozen includes all the film’s beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with 12 new songs written exclusively for the stage.
In the beautiful mountainous kingdom of Arendelle, Princesses Anna and Elsa grow up sheltered inside their castle, isolated from the world and increasingly distant from each other. When Elsa is crowned queen, the magical powers she’s desperately tried to conceal from her sister take control, and she flees into the mountains. As a ferocious winter descends on Arendelle, Anna sets off on an epic journey to find Elsa and bring her home – with the help of hardworking ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and a happy-go-lucky snowman named Olaf.
Full of magic, humor, and a stunning musical score, Frozen is a powerful tale of sisterhood, acceptance, and finding the real meaning of true love.
Commitment:
A total of 9 performances including 3 matinees. Rehearsals will begin in August, 2 times per week and will consist of vocals, choreography and blocking, generally Sunday afternoon and one other weeknight. Additional rehearsals may be added if necessary. Successful cast members will be expected to be available to attend all rehearsals. Schedules will be created to best manage everyone’s time, and all cast may not be called for every rehearsal.
Beginning November 6 when the show moves into Victoria Hall until our opening night November 19, rehearsals will be almost every evening or weekend afternoon and cast members must be available.
Casting:
We welcome all actors of any gender identity or expression, race, or ethnicity to audition.
While we anticipate many people will audition, there are a limited number of roles and places and many factors go in to the casting decisions. We ask you to come to the audition with a specific character (s) in mind or an Ensemble role. You may however be asked to read for a different character or you may be offered an Ensemble role. Should you be unsuccessful, this is not a critique of your talents, but a decision based on the needs and vision of this production.
This is a non-paying, non-Equity show.
Auditions will be held:
Wednesday May 6- 4:30PM to 9PM
Friday May 8- 4:30PM to 9PM
Location will be shared after signing up.
Callbacks TBA
What to Prepare:
Please come to the audition prepared to sing a Broadway style song, ideally a song from Frozen. For those auditioning for one of the lead or supporting roles you will be sent ahead of time, script sides. While you do not have to memorize them, we expect you to have a clear idea of your character. We are looking for stage presence as much as vocal talent. For those auditioning for the Ensemble, a song of your choice and you may or may not be asked to read.
Please bring a phone or device to playback your backing track. Backing tracks for Frozen songs can be made available for you.
For the callbacks you must sing a Frozen song and you will likely be paired up with other candidates to sing together and read together to determine chemistry. You may be asked for some basic demonstration of dancing ability.
